I am the original owner of this Marantz SR7000 receiver. I have always kept it in a pet free/smoke free home. I originally used it for home theater purposes, but three years ago I simplified to a stereo only rig and used this just as a preamp (for which it worked quite well). I recently bought a newer stereo only preamp, and so I'm selling the SR7000.I've listed the item as fair (4/10) for one main reason...the center and surround amplifier portions of the receiver sound "dirty" or muffled. I spent a couple of hours testing different features and making sure that this was the only flaw with the receiver. Physically, it is in excellent condition (as you can see in the pictures). The front left and right amplifier portions still sound great, and ALL of the preamp outputs (6 of them including the front L/R, surround L/R, center, and LFE) work perfectly. I expect the speaker relays need to be cleaned or replaced in order to make the center/surround amp portion function properly. I used Deoxit on all of the binding posts, but it seemed to make no difference on the center/surround outputs (as I said above, the front L/R amplifier outputs still work like new). This could serve as a very nice entry level stereo receiver/preamp or as a nice entry level HT processor with external amps or active loudspeakers. I should also mention that the remote works perfectly, but some of the buttons have significantly faded text (as you can see in the picture). I do not have a box to ship this in, so I am looking for local pickup only (near Athens/Atlanta, GA). I will deliver within an hour drive (one way) of Athens, GA; if you live a bit farther away, I would gladly meet you somewhere within an hour of Athens. P.S. If it sweetens the deal any, I will throw in a 60-disc CD changer from Technics that still works like new (and looks like new).
