For sale is a set of open baffle speakers using using Martin King's design incorporating Eminence Alpha A 15" and Fostex FF85WK 3" drivers. I hate to gush, but this is one of the best speakers I've ever heard. Unfortunately, I've never been able to enjoy them because my apartment is an acoustic nightmare. It's time to pass these on to someone who has the space.This design incorporates a small removable baffle to allow you to try other full-range drivers in combination with the Eminence bass driver. It also incorporates offset driver placement to flatten frequency response. In addition, the front facing is veneered with maple for good looks and WAF (wife approval factor). Crossover is built with premium components (using King's suggestions), wiring is CAT5 Plenium and a DIY recipe of stranded copper, the 5-way binding posts are gold plated and easy to use. Construction is very sturdy and each one weighs in at about 50 lbs. Condition is listed as "Very Good" due to the handmade nature of the speakers. If you are skeptical about how this kind of speaker can produce anything worth hearing, just know I was once a doubter too but have been converted.
Everyone that has heard these is shocked at how well they image and provide spatial information. Frequency response is around 30K to a very solid 35Hz. (Yup. That low.) The sound is warm, delicate, and is literally "in the room." They sound great with every tube-based and solid state amp I've used.
