For sale is an Ayon Polaris III full function preamplifier with MC phono stage. This is a FANTASTIC preamplifier that I never thought I would sell, but I want to downsize and take some money out of my system to do some home improvements. In all my years of scouring all of the audiophile websites, this is only the 2nd unit I've seen for sale used (I purchased the first).Please read the reviews from the Absolute Sound and High Fidelity and you will realize that this preamp is in the upper echelons of equipment. The phono stage in this preamp is VERY VERY good and worked well with my low output (.2 mV) Dynavector XV-1S cartridge. I tried 7 phono preamps until I finally found one that I liked better (Allnic Audio H3000, which is $10,900 retail). I also installed the very expensive and very hard to find NOS Reflector 6H30DR tubes, which made a big improvement to the phono stage. Tubes in this unit are supposed to last around 10,000 hours. I also installed 2 Audio Horizons fuses which made a very noticeable improvement in resolution. Neither of these improvements involved any permanent modifications to the unit and can be easily undone by just changing the tubes and fuses, but I don't see why anyone would ever choose to do so. There are no cosmetic or functional issues with the unit EXCEPT that the remote control board on the unit went kaput a couple of years ago so the remote cannot be used. I believe the board can be purchased and replaced by USA Tube Audio in Arizona. I have all original boxes and packing materials and the manual. If my full asking price is met, I'll cover half of insured shipping and half of Paypal fees. Purchase from a seller with very good feedback on usaudiomart, audiogon, audio asylum, and ebay.
