VAC (Valve Amplification Company) Avatar Super. Rare, last updated version at the end of the production run for this legendary 80wpc integrated, which had started around 20 years ago, first with the Avatar model, which was then refined to the Avatar SE (Special Edition). The subsequent Avatar Super was an overhaul, not an incremental refinement of the SE, and within this version further sonic enhancements continued to be made, culminating with the last version, which has a solid vented aluminum chassis all around, adding greatly to overall weight but further improving vibration control and lowering the noise floor (penultimate versions had more wire mesh cage on the sides and top). But by that point, the materials, circuitry, and fabrication processes had made the amp too expensive to manufacture, and production was ended around 2006 ~2007.This unit has a built-in MC/MM phono stage, is in very good condition, with a completely clean front, and no noticeable scratches anywhere else. The quad of cryo-treated Gold Lion KT88s are less than a year old, and are included with their individual boxes. Remote, manual, and factory box for the amp (not the original box, but subsequently supplied directly from VAC for this unit) also included. No trades, no offers.
