For Sale is a wonderful integrated amp by Sophia. Not to be cofused with the popular Sophia S.E.T. Music Baby Amp (10w/ch). This was an earlier version that retailed for $1495.($1625 with the upgraded caps & better EL-34 tubes.)
It is a 2 rca inputs, tube push pull intgrated, that is rated at 28w/ch. It is approximately 7 years old & I am the 2nd owner. It was originally made with upgraded Mundorf Supreme signal coupling capaciors. I have had some pretty good amps pass though my system in the past 10 years (Ayre, VAC, Rogue) and this Sophia has remained. It has never been my main amp, maybe getting 1-2 month of playing time each year in a secondary setup. It is just such an enjoyable amp, very musical, leaning to the warm side of neutral but with enough detail that I wouldn’t describe it as “tubey”.
It uses 4ea EL-34 & 2ea 6U8. It curerently has NOS brown base 70′s Svetlava & NOS 70′s RCA 6U8 tubes. It is functionally 100%. No hums, buzzes, or pops. It was on the bench about a year ago to have the selector switch replaced and all internal checked. My tech put in a higher quality switch, but it is 5 notch (Only 2 are required - it functions perfect). There are a couple of smal dings on the bottom of the front wood panel, but it is absolutely presentable.
