DISCLAIMER/NOTE: UNIT DOES NOT CURRENTLY READ DISCS AND IS OFFERED "AS IS".

Figured I’d try offering this to someone here interested in resurrecting it as a “DIY” Repair project.

I bought this player upon its release way back in 2002 (!) and it (was) very, very good sounding and served as my modest but nonetheless highly enjoyable “reference” player (It did receive a "Class A" rating by Stereophile, FWIW) for over 10 years (superseded by the now classic Sony SCD-XA5400ES) but suffered from the unfortunate and common issue of laser-unit failure. I liked this unit so much that I felt it was worth it to have the laser replaced. After laser replacement it served duty as my secondary/alternate digital source for a bunch of years after I purchased the 5400 but then again developed problems reading discs. Cosmetically it is in "like new" condition with no scratches, marks etc and it does power on. I have the original remote, manual, box and also some miscellaneous information materials re: the SA8260.

As incentive for purchase I’m including a 3-ft long DIY power cord fitted with a Marinco 8215 Hospital-Grade (Green Dot) Power Plug and Wattgate 320i IEC. You will see in the accompanying picture that the constructed cable is "naked" ie, unsheathed. The Marinco and Wattgate combined are about $35 new.

I’m not looking to make any money from the 8260 itself, I’m asking $20 in essence really for the DIY cord components, plus the cost of shipping the SA8260 (& its remote etc) in its original box with my FedEx account. If you’re interested please contact me and we will figure out actual shipping costs; unless you’re west of the Misssissippi it shouldn't be more than ~$20.

My sincere hope is that a DIY-er Audio Asylum Inmate is able to get some enjoyment out of repairing the 8260 laser as a DIY project endeavor and hopefully some listening enjoyment as well. If this doesn’t generate any interest then so be it...

Please check my feedback and contact me with any questions. Thanks for your interest.
