Very attractive HF-81, which I renewed/modded ~2015; it's my second HF-81 unit, which I refurbed "for fun" but no longer need since I still enjoy my first HF-81. The Eico's were my first foray into tube audio, my escape from "mid-fi". Looks/sounds great, everything functions, and plays cleanly through all its line-level inputs (the low-level inputs are not used). The restoration prioritized the signal paths and power supply, with 18 new selected caps and 3 new resistors. The power function was changed from the Treble pot to the Tape slide switch. The speaker junctions were changed to 3-way posts. The Fader pot was bypassed. At this stage, it's stable and ready for regular use. If you'd like me to continue specific upgrades for you, please ask, as I can recommend some based on my "first HF-81". Coupling caps would be first to consider. It still uses its "came-with" tube set, which check out fine through my Hickok tester. The EZ81, 12AU7, and 12AX7 are Mullard, Amperex, and Eico/Mullard. The four RCA EL84/6BQ5 power pentodes operate in triode mode. I will double-box with resilient foam buffers. Shipping is extra; calculate about 35-40 pounds net weight via UPS or Fedex. Local pickup is fine. Payment types include Paypal.
