One pair of Zero Autoformers (toroidal auto-formers) in mint condition. This product acts as a loudspeaker impedance multiplier to obtain net impedances of 2x,3x ,4x and values in between. Essentially, it controls amplifier - loudspeaker mismatches commonly heard due to several conditions. With Maggies, the likes of low impedances are known to not work well with low power amps. - the Zero Autoformers fix this. Using a S.S. amp. rated at 85W.@8 O., I was able to drive Maggies (1.6) without any problems, and much better before using the Zeros, with the Zeros set at 1.78x. As well, "normal" impedance speakers with low power amps. of all sorts, be they S.S., SET, OTL, are made to mate better so as to allow the sound to be fuller and more natural, as if more power was available. How does one know if and when these work? Answer: You will hear the improvement vs. prior to using the Zeros. No test scopes or Golden Ears needed. Much easier to use than describe here.... Reason for sale: I do not have room to use the set up these were used in before; most of my audio stuff is in storage now. History: I bought these slightly used (in mint condition) without an enclosure (referred to as "naked") in 2009 and then put them into the present enclosures. These enclosures are new non-stock cast aluminum boxes with non resonant material (Dynamat Extreme) lining the interior.
