For sale a Dared VP-80 tubed integrated. Rated at 40wpc, but seemingly outputting one helluva lot more. I've been told that this will run Maggie's without breaking a sweat and I believe it.I can't find a link to it. The closest would be to the VP-845 which is the 'newer' model, but it's a lesser amp. This one has upgraded power tubes from generic Sino KT-88's to Valve Art KT-88's and the generic Sino 12AX7's have been upgraded to Yugoslavian EI 12AX7's. That actually pushes the 'original price' up to around $1,700.00. It offers (3) line level inputs, speaker taps for both 4 and 8 ohms, and one thing that's an odd little bonus for a tube amp - a sub out. It includes a wooden remote for volume up/down only. The best way to describe this amp is that it just oozes music. It hits all the audiophile buzzwords like detail, resolution and low frequency extension, but playing music is what this amp is all about. There's something about it that is just 'right'. I'll probably regret it, I guess I do as often as I don't, but I'm going to go the tubed mono-block route to give that a try. I'm currently using Tekton Design Lore Impulse's, so I don't necessarily need the grunt that this one has to make those sing. The problem - isn't there usually one?: When it came one of the end plates was loose. It sounded so good that I just ignored it. It's an easy fix, I just haven't done it - plus I tend not to take ANYTHING apart. DIY is not my thing, and I don't take any chances! Of course any and all offers will be seriously considered and responded to.
