An excellent set of Dahlquist DQ-20i speakers - the last model that Jon Dahlquist had any input on, but chiefly designed by Carl Marchisotto, of Alon, and NOLA speakers fame.
These sound like updated DQ-10's, with much better drivers and a lot higher WAF. Drivers are very high quality Danish made such as the ScanSpeak D-2008/2010(custom D2008 but with felt or foam, so essentially d2010's, non ferro fluid)tweeter. Same as you'll find on many a Proac, Sonus Faber, etc. Also essentially the same as the HIQUPHON OWII, same designer, same dimensions, same distortion profile and same response.
Woofers were just refoamed and reconditioned with exact factory type replacements - not generic, doesn't fit quite right, with glue running all over the place, etc. foam surrounds. These were done by a top quality repair facility and done right!.
All drivers are perfect. All crossover parts are perfect. Grill cloth is original and free of snags. Logo's in place. No smokers ever near them. No pet stains, or chocolate bars, etc. A few small mars/dings on the oak rails - could easily be touched up, but you can't see it from a few feet away; so why bother?

Second being myself - a well known Dahlquist fan, ranter, and someone who had lunch with Jon Dahlquist and Saul Marantz; back in the day...I'm primarily a panel/ribbon/electrostatic,planar, etc. enthusiast. To my ears, no dynamic speaker ever quite sounds right, but some are better than others. These fall sonically somewhere between highest quality dynamic speakers( not the kind with the built-in powered subs which seems like a strange direction to me, since subs need to be placed where they work best with a rooms acoustics, and that is seldom where the mid range and highs work best..), but rather the kind that are for the more modest dwelling, and panel based, i.e. Apogee's, electrostatics, MG-20's, etc. More dynamic then the panels, no bass over hang either. Not as room filling and dominate as the better panels, but also not as prone to failure.
Very open, but not fatiguing speakers with a fabulous extended high end.
They earned my respect, and when they were paired with my HSU sub woofers..Wow!. Just look at the fan club on the A...gon"! They CAN be shipped, BUT I'd prefer someone to either pick them up; or to meet up somewhere within driving distance for both of us. If you are an hour or less from the great metropolis of Cleveland, I'll deliver for free. If farther away, but still within a reasonable distance to meet up, I'd just ask for gas cost. That means a 3 or 4 State area. I'm in no hurry to sell nor willing to come down on the price, which is hundreds less than that AUCTION site will cost you for a pair of these, in this kind of condition. I may take some partial trades, or entire trades. I'm looking for a tube preamplifier, with phono. Also looking for an AVR receiver with HDMI and scaling, upconversion to boost 480i to something closer to 1080i, smaller speakers, other interesting panel type speakers, what have you? If you really really want them, and you really really want them shipped - send me your zip(CONUS ONLY!) and I'll see what I can do. A lot of work, but I can build boxes..
