James Burgess 71a rare custom-built low-watt SET tube amp. "First Watt" type amp, for high-efficiency speakers. Here's a rare and special amp you don't see everyday...a 71a amp made by master builder James Burgess. With volume control. Many think that the 71a tube has the best attributes of both the 45 and 2a3...all the realness and balance of a 45, along with the openness and extended air of a 2a3. YOU MUST HAVE SENSITIVE SPEAKERS!!! This SET only puts out 800 miliwatts (0.8 watts), about half of what 45s put out. It will only make the most high efficiency speakers sing (the amp works and sounds great with my Klipsch). Amp will come with a pair of 12au7 drivers, a RCA 6ax5 rectifier, and four 71a tubes (2 globes, 2 bottles - the amp uses 2 71a tubes, 2 are spares). I have several more sets of 71A tubes if you would like to purchase those in addition. 71As tend to cost quite a bit less than 45s, 2A3s and 300b tubes. Small, light tube amp - very easy to place and to move. Rated 8/10 due to DIY nature - finish is very good but has a few scratches. See photos.
