For sale is a sweet-looking, 1950s Grado Micro Control tonearm. Tonearm works great and has functioned with no issues for me after a rewire as detailed below.

A description of the tonearm from Vinyl Engine: The Grado Micro Control tonearm is constructed of the finest gunstock walnut wood and is hand rubbed to bring out the natural beauty of the wood grain. You can find additional specs and a copy of the manual from Vinyl Engine.

The metal fittings are of finely machined anodized aluminium - it is precision crafted for maximum accuracy. It's one piece construction eliminates the possibility of intermittent masses which cause instability and erratic resonances. Those resonances cause a reduction of dynamic range and a loss of bass response.

Now who doesn't want some hand-rubbed, gunstock walnut!!

I have affectionately called this the 'coat hanger' while it has been in my posssession. There was not much to do but rewire the arm from head to foot, which I did. I opted to use a soldering lug to connect the tonearm wireing to the interconnects - works just fine although not as pretty as a RCA junction box. Rewiring is a cinch since the tonearm wire is routed through a channel cut into the underside of the arm.

For a late 50s tonearm, this is a surprisingly good tracker and makes nice-nice with a Grado Gold. This will be far from the best tonearm you will ever own but it might be the most distinctive looking. My goal was to make a dedicated mono turntable set up with this arm but decided to run a Lenco with a tonearm with a detachable headshell.

If you have an old idler, direct, or belt drive project and need a tonearm that won't break the bank - this is for you!

Shipping in the U.S. and Canada only. I know how to pack audio gear and this one will be double-boxed, along with additional packing. I did not weigh the tonearm (5 lbs. is only a guess) to get an exact weight but I only charge actual shipping costs, including insurance and tracking. Please contact me at nocoastjazz@gmail.com or (312) 502-2844 and ask for Troy.

I have been a member of VA for several years under hardbop33 or hardbop33@hotmail.com but recently reregistered under nocoastjazz because my hotmail account was hacked.

Thanks!
