The Ohm I was a 4- way system with a built-in subwoofer in each cabinet. Designed in the late 1970s (before most people had heard of subwoofers!), it still holds Ohm's record for highest output head room. The system could handle 1500 watts on most systems! In addition to the 12'' subwoofer, there was a vented 8'' woofer/ midrange that operated from 100 Hz to 1700 Hz. This driver was mounted on the top of the cabinet and had 360 degree dispersion. Also on top of the cabinet was a 1.5'' low tweeter and 1'' high tweeter. On the front of the cabinet was another 1'' high tweeter to extend the treble. The Ohm I was the premier top of the line speaker with normal drivers before the introduction of the Walsh series of cylindrical drivers in 1982. This pair is in very good condition with all drivers working and grills recently replaced. Ohm Acoustics is still in business in Brooklyn, NY, so parts and service are available.
32 - 20,000 Hz, 90 dB, 100 – 1000 watts, 4 ohms, 16” x 16” x 34 ½”, about 60 lbs.
Value – Original cost $1,550 in 1980, adjusted for inflation would be $4,200 today, which is about what their new speakers sell for new today. Ohm allows up to $1550 for the return of a pair of complete undamaged Ohm I’s toward 25% of the purchase price of new Ohm speakers. It is hard to find comps because they are so rare. Sell for $600 - $1,000, depending on condition. I would like to get $699 for these. I prefer not to ship these and would like to have them picked up.
