You can read about the details of them here: http://www.kef.com/html/en/explore/about_kef/museum/1980s/Reference_Series_103_3/index.html These were one of the reference series speakers from the 1980's that along with the 104/2 are still highly sought after today. This pair has the official KEF stands which were optional and more difficult to find and also has the original KUBE. This is the complete system and if you're looking for some vintage reference series KEF speakers- the configuration you want. If you have a small space, these speakers pack a big sound in a small footprint. The KUBE enhances the bass, but these speakers are designed with a special downward firing port so you can put these close to the wall and they still sound great. I have them in a large room and I'm stunned with the amount of sound available from a speaker of it's size. I'm also really impressed by the build quality. They have substantial internal bracing and the enclosures are free of unwanted resonances (they quite heavy for their size). The reference series had real wood veneer and these have nicely patterned veneer that looks to be teak. All drivers are stock and original. The only thing done to them, is that I replaced the ferrofluid in the tweeters last Summer (it's recommended for any tweeter of that vintage). I noticed an immediate improvement in the high frequency content and quality and it was well worth the effort. I also replaced all the power supply caps, and a few other electrolytics in the KEF KUBE. They didn't look to be a problem, but again that's advised for top performance. I am the second owner and bought them from the original owner who paid over $1,200 for them (I think I may have the original manual around somewhere and will include it if I find it). These are some really nice sounding speakers and I've enjoyed them, but I'm getting back into low powered DHT SE tube amps and selling off a few speakers to get something higher efficiency (mid 90 dbs or higher). I just took some quick images to give you an idea as to how they look. I have the grills and they are in good shape, I just really like the appearance of these speakers without grills. I apologize for the mess in the images, my listening room is temporarily cluttered ;>) Rated as a "7" due to age. I doubt someone would find a much nicer preserved pair
