Very clean 8/10 condition Mcintosh C28 preamp for sale. As you may see in the photos, it's a very good to excellent condition piece. Hard to find one in this good shape. There are a few minor imperfections to note. There is a thin scratch on the top right hand side of the unit about 3/8" long. There is also very minor bubbling of the front panel glass...mostly on the edge and you have be up close to see it. Other than those minor cosmetic flaws, it looks great and is very presentable.Functionally, this C28 has been recapped in the past, don't know by whom and don't know how long ago. I see various Nichicon caps and other modern devices installed. All work looks to be very well done. Please message me if you’d like to see images with the hood popped. I recently cleaned all the potentiometers with Caig Faderlube F5. I also cleaned all switches/connectors with Caig DeOxit D5. I've been playing this C28 in my system for the last week with a Terry DeWick restored Mcintosh MC2505, and Altec Valencia. Preamp sounds incredible with my DAC running into the auxiliary input exhibiting large scale, dynamic, and lifelike sound. Both phono inputs also sound great and are dead quiet. Line level inputs all sound great. No weird channel imbalance in volume control that effects some vintage Mc preamps and the three step loudness compensation (Fletcher/Munson curve) works perfect.
If you've been looking, waiting fo find a super clean, plug and play C28 for that incredible vintage tone, scale and lifelike presentation of the tunes then this may be it! The minty walnut cabinet can be included and separately shipped for $300 plus shipping cost.(Sold)
