When you absolutely need to go to THAT level in resolution and presence, you call on Nelson Pass (and Wayne Colburn) for all of your solid-state needs. Quiet, reliable, and extremely flexible; you would be hard-pressed to find comparable competitors at this price point for a phono stage. I can tell you that I have dabbled with the other solid-state brands (Boulder, Ayre, and others) that play in this realm, and I always come back to what Nelson and Wayne develop. But hey, variety is the spice of life!
If you have the system; and more specifically, the turntable, arm, and cartridge to let this stallion run, get ready. Jet black backgrounds and lots of options for gain and loading. At this point in the hobby, the list is quite short of what I regret selling, but I have a sinking feeling this phono stage will make the list. Little kids and far too much gear nudge me towards my decision to divest myself of this one. I'm sure you will give it a good home. Bought from an authorized dealer (Mark at Reno Hi-Fi).
