This is the legendary Tim de ParaVincini phono preamp raved about for years, and justly so. I am selling as I have purchased a high $ CJ phono preamp to match my CJ preamp. Space limits requires me to stack gear so the EAR must go. I love the smooth seductive sound, which is even more seductive than the CJ. This EAR is not cosmetically perfect. I bought it as a project with it needing only minor work to get it working.....so I thought.
Unfortunately, some well meaning audiophile tried to upgrade it and became lost somewhere and gave up, after removing some parts..... Ultimately, I could not get it going so I had to take it to an engineer and he, with schematic in hand, restored the unit to perfect working order, and fine shape. Now, this 834 has quality RCA jacks, Auricaps, silver wire, volume pot removed ( rolled off the top end), upgraded internal power cable, Caddock resistors, and now is a great sounding phono. I have too much in it after the repair so I am cutting losses, and selling it. It has new tubes, (GE 7025 X2, and a Sylvania 12AU7)is very quiet and just so musical. Cosmetics are mildly compromised so if your gear must look perfect pay more elsewhere for visual perfection. This will be a good step above a stock EAR 834.
