I have for sale a nice example of one of the most popular Mcintosh tube amp. The amp is in stock condition. As you can see the chrome is in fair to good condition with some pitting , swirling marks and partial lettering loss , maybe not a collector item but in real life still presentable and certainly nothing to be ashamed off. It plays exceptionally well and and is absolutely quiet on my 94dB Living Voice Avatar speakers. Actually, I have not heard such a quiet tube amp. I reformed the caps in lengthy 24 hrs cycle and the ESR and capacitance measurements are just fine. I also cleaned the sockets and tube pins , and input potentiometers. The chart voltages are almost spot on within 5-10%. The amp looks pristine inside.
7591 power tubes are NOS USA made original Mcintosh branded matched quad. All tubes test like new close to 9000 on my Hickok 539B where minimum is 5600.
12AX7 and 12AU7 tubes are ribbed plates Telefunkens and 12BH7A are original Mcintosh branded Rca. they all test great. I think the amp was re-tubed and than shortly after retired.
It is a rare chance of hearing completely stock amp in perfect operating condition.
Now , as a courtesy to perspective buyer I can change selenium rectifier and associated resistor in bias circuit as a safety measure. Also, if after a certain period of time the new owner will decide to do complete re-cap I can do it as well with the caps of choice (sky is the limit for really modest fee.
