I am changing around some of my gear and revamping my home office system, so I have a few items for sale.

I also have been toting around two pieces of custom built tube gear that simply need a new home. Several years ago, I purchased a custom tube single ended amplifier from an “old-time” DIYer. He had two rooms full of gear he’d built. I listened to several pieces and he said this amp could easily compete with any $2,000 plus commercial unit. All I know is that it sounded great, all point to point wiring, quite heavy, big old school capacitors, serious transformers, etc. I preferred it to my Dynaco ST 70. I used it for several months, eventually replaced it while shuffling around gear. A couple of years ago, I pulled it out to test it for a 2nd system. It didn’t work. I replaced the rectifier tubes, but it doesn’t work. While I have built a crossover, I am not experienced with electronics. Perhaps someone in this community can bring this to life and enjoy its magic. I imagine it’s something simple like a capacitor or resistor which needs to be replaced. I don’t even have a tube tester, but “yes,” it could be that simple. I do not have a schematic.

In addition, I have a phono stage built by the same man. It is moving magnet only, a two-piece: one outboard power supply, one the actual phono stage. I know it worked well. I plugged in the power supply over the weekend and let it run for many hours. It sure looks like it works. The stage itself is probably fine, but it needs the proper tubes, which are almost certainly 12 Ax7 tubes. I’m 90% certain they are the same tubes as fit into a Dynaco Pas 3 tube pre-amp I used to own. I had put this phono stage in a plastic box under the spare bedroom and forgot I even had it. I do not have the tubes, but I’d be happy to coordinate with someone to test it if they know someone locally with tubes. I can’t rave about it and say it is the greatest since I barely used it several years ago, but it did work well, it was quiet, and I liked it. I simply do not listen to much vinyl. I know, I resisted cds for 4 years, broke down, and now my music is on a hard drive. Go figure.

Anyway, these two custom units are available.

Power amplifier. $225. I was told it is 10 watts. All I know is that it drove a set of 3 way custom speakers rated at 90 db with as much authority as my Dynaco ST 70. And, it was even more liquid sounding. Those speakers had 10 inch focal drivers. I really did like this amp, but then I had access to a Berning and used that. BTW, this baby is quite heavy. Ballpark: 35 to 40 pounds. I’ll weigh it.

Phono Stage. $125.

Feel free to ask questions.

Thanks for looking. Ships from NC U.S.

TUBES for the power amp:

Two center tubes = 5u4gb Sylvania, RCA. Rectifiers. I bought these last year OS, tested strong. I replaced them to see if the rectifier tube was the issue.

Left front two tubes = 6av5ga One also says 63-13, 188-5 near bottom of tube Right = GE same tube type

Two small tubes in front (one per channel) 6BQ7 6BZ7 This one is clear, not certain if the other says "Q"

TWO tubes behind the two small front tubes 12 by7a one = RCA

All or most of the tubes are GE or RCA.
