Asking $750 / or best offer, which includes insured ground shipping to the continental USA. Rated 6/10 because it is DIY, but the chassis is in like new condition.Pass First Watt CLONE amplifier, Model Aleph J, 25 watts per channel into an 8 ohm load, using red PCB boards that allow use of the best input Jfet, the 2SJ109. To my ears, a step above using matched j74 jfets. The amp is housed in a Hi-Fi 2000 Deluxe 5U aluminum chassis. Dimensions are: 17.5 in. wide x 17.5 in. deep (including posts) and 9 in. tall with feet. Weight is 47 pounds. It has a 10mm thick front panel with 2 blue LED on indicators. This is the standard Aleph J circuit with one power supply modification. It has a 400 VA Antek transformer, 60,000 uf capacitance per rail, but instead of power resistors I used a choke in each rail to make a CLC supply filter. It makes the best sounding First Watt clones in my system, to my ears. This amp has the capability to adjust the bias settings and DC offset, via pots on each of the PCBs. Because it is in the monster chassis, I listened at multiple bias settings, and settled on a setting of 450mV, which is about 20 watts/device. You can go higher, if you want, but I did not notice any sonic improvements. The heatsinks were only about 20 degrees Centigrade above room temperature at this bias setting, so the devices are not being thermally stressed. The sound is typical First Watt...great bass, articulate, minimal to no self noise. The Aleph J does have a quiet turn on and turn off thump, that is only minimally noticeable on my 95 db sensitive speakers. Please note, the input jacks are xlr only, I am a minimalist, so if I were to use rca inputs, I would use rca to xlr adapters. No cords, bases or other accessories are included. I will include a copy of the aleph J owners manual. I pack very carefully, and the amp will ship very well padded in a 20 x 20 x 14 inch box.
