As much as I hate to part with this turntable and tonearm, the record collection is gone and it is time to downsize. I am the original owner, having purchased this unit in Japan in 1982; it has been used very sparingly after the first couple of years, sometimes only once or twice a year. I would prefer to sell these as a unit, but will split them up if someone really just wants either the turntable or the arm but not both.

The turntable (Micro Seiki BL-111; serial number 00120020) is a belt drive; both 33 and 45 speeds, with adjustment available. The plinth weighs 36 kg (79 lbs) and the gunmetal platter weighs 10 kg (22 lbs). Dimensions are: 532mm (W) x 440mm (L) x 230mm (H). All original boxes included. I have seen this unit for sale sparingly, usually between $2,800-$3,500 for the body of the turntable with no tonearm.

I would rate the turntable as being in very good condition. These do not become available very often, but the ones I have seen for sale are seldom in this good of condition. The dust-cover has no deep scratches or discoloration. The rosewood veneer has only small surface scratches, and very small damage on the back, left corner; and some wear on other corners. The platter has a couple of surface level scratches that are only visible if the mat is not on.

With the turntable, I will also include the following:

• 3 original belts (SF-2 belts; 2 slightly used, and one new). I’ve seen these for sale on ebay for over $100 each. • All original tools for lifting the platter and placing the belts in position when setting up. • 45 rpm adapter • All original brochures and receipts (some in Japanese, but also English translations) • Two transformers. The turntable is a 100V model (the U.S. is 120V). For that reason, I am including the two transformers. I have used these with no problems whatsoever in the States for 30 years. I have two because one serves as a backup. • The original strobe disk for checking the speed (for sale on ebay now for $75). • A Herbie’s audio lab Way Excellent Deluxe TT mat (originally $58.50) • A solid steel record weight—this was custom made for me by a friend with a machine shop. • Optional, if wanted, an Audio-technical Disc Stabilizer (AT666EX) vacuum suction platter (this unit needs the rubber replaced—don’t know if that is possible)—buyer just needs to let me know if s/he wants it • Dust cover cloth to protect the dustcover.

In 2011, I had the turntable serviced for the first time because there were speed control issues. This was a complete service, replacing the capacitors, as well as upgrading the power switch from the old 2 amp to a new 15 amp unit; he also put in a new speed relay unit. Total cost was $903.16 (receipt will be included). Moreover, I just had the turntable looked at one more time by the same technician ($180; receipt will be included) in anticipation of selling it to make sure the electronics are in good working condition.

The tonearm (Fidelity Research 64s; serial number 050003) was purchased with the turntable, and all original parts are included, including the original head shell, which has never been used. Original phono cable also included. All original packing materials and brochures included. I usually see these for sale for between $1,800 to $2500, although these often do not have the original headshell or cable.

This will be shipped in 3-4 separate boxes: one for the main body of the turntable, one for the platter (and other equipment listed above), and one for the dustcover and tonearm. If the shipping is less than the requested $400, I will refund the difference. If it is more, I will absorb the cost. My goal is to make sure it arrives in good condition.

I have many additional photographs I can email serious buyers as I realize this is a substantial purchase. Just let me know. I hope this finds a good home for the next 30 years. It’s a wonderful turntable-tonearm combination and it is a bit painful to part with it.
