for sale: Pair of vintage Stromberg Carlson branded 5963 tubes. Equivalent to 12AU7 / ECC82 / 5814 etc . Double mica, grey plate. These were probably made by RCA. See info at link. Someone here needs to try these out. Expand the universe of 12AU7 equivalents. Designated NOS. Tested via emissions at 92/92 and 93/93, and via GM at 110/110 and 110/110 (where the minimum good is 70). Vintage tubes (much of the lettering has worn off) - but guaranteed to work (test results not guaranteed to be the same, of course). Non-Original boxes. Brent Jesse describes the 5963: "This is a nice industrial type which is nearly identical to the standard 12AU7. RCA made a nice blackplate version of this tube, Sylvania has a gold pin version, and GE has it in their 5-star broadcast line. The plate voltage rating is a little lower than for a 12AU7, but for most applications, it will work fine. It has a rugged cathode and should be long lived, similar to the 5814. Watch this tube, as it is plentiful now and prices are low. As audiophiles discover it, the rush will be on!"
