This ad is for a pair of my Cherry wood Carbon 7 loudspeakers. I have two different Cherry wood finishes in stock, ready to ship. I can build them in other wood finishes to ship in about 2 weeks delivery time. Check out my other ads for more Fritz loudspeakers.

Check out my FritzSpeakers.Com web site for 5 reviews of my new Carbon 7SE's and 9 reviews of my original Carbon 7 model including Neil Gaders Absolute Sound review. The Carbon 7's have been on the Absolute Sounds recommended components list for 6 years now!

FRITZ CARBON 7SE SPECS-

38Hz-30Khz +/- 3 db

8 Ohms nominal- Very easy load on any amplifier including low powered tube amps. See Impedance & fantastic phase curves.

88 db (1 Watt, 2.83 V @ 1 Meter)

ScanSpeak 7" Carbon Graphite Fiber/Paper Pulp composite cone with non-resonant low loss butyl rubber surround & die cast frame with massive magnet, bass reflex loaded- rear port.

This unit is an improved version of the highly praised 18W/8545-00 midwoofer, where a new aluminum chassis, an updated cone and a new spider as well as a few other details are introduced, these updates improves mechanical stability and sound performance.

High-quality magnet system design with patented Symmetric Drive (SD-1) continues to be a key feature. The magnet system is the new SD-1 system which eliminates modulation and dynamic distortion, as well as clipping distortion created as it exceeds its maximum linear excursion.

ScanSpeak AirCirc or Illuminator Tweeter

1" Textile Dome Diaphragm Magnet System w. Alu Ring Large Roll Surround for Wide Dispersion AirCirc Motor Design w. 6 Neo magnets Die Cast Rubber Painted Alu Face Plate

The AirCirc and Illuminator tweeters continue on with the heritage of the renowned Revelator D29. The large-roll surround and textile dome diaphragm provide a flat frequency response to above 30KHz with outstanding off-axis dispersion. The face plates are die cast in aluminum for a beautiful look with maximum mechanical stability. Scan-speak’s unique AirCirc Magnet System - named for the way it optimizes air flow within the chamber – rearranges the traditional magnet structure from a single magnet to an open magnetic circuit comprised of six separate neodymium slugs. This, in combination with the chamber, results in the elimination of the reflections and resonances that compromise the performance of traditional motors. The D3004 tweeters gives engineers improved control over critical midrange performance, for superb vocal rendition and excellent imaging at all listening locations.

Series crossover without any capacitors or resistors in the circuit with the tweeter.

16H x 9W x 12D, 30 lbs (each)

30 - 200 Watts RMS, without clipping

I started building speakers in 1973. I buy, test, measure and play with as many different drivers that I can get my hands on to see which ones are the best sounding to use in my designs. I moved from Michigan to LA in the late 70's & have been going to the CES in Las Vegas since the early 80's to check out the latest audio gear and new loudspeakers.

When I see & hear models that I like, I try to get the same drivers to experiment with. I've been inspired by Dunlavy (MTM's), ProAc, Sonus Faber, Vienna Acoustics, Totem, Wilson, Merlin, YG Acoustics & many others, especially companies that use ScanSpeak drivers. I prefer to use drivers that have very smooth roll offs with simple 1st order crossovers that don't require a ton of $$ crossover parts. My series crossovers do not have any capacitors or resistors in the circuit with the tweeter and use a smaller sized inductor on the mid/bass driver. Conventional woofer crossovers generally have a couple of much larger coils which sucks up all kinds of power & good sound.

I use the same speaker drivers that are in major big $$ loudspeakers that sell for more than 2 to 8 times what I charge since I sell direct. My Carbon 7 model has been on the Absolute Sound recommended component list for the last 6 years. Visit my web site for 35 of my speaker reviews & google me for many trade show reports. With my series crossovers, my speakers are very easy to drive, especially with tube amps. Check out Steve's (Rebbi on Audiogon) review of my $2500 Carbon 7 SE model driven with his $2200 Audio Note 8 watt 300B tube amp.

Attached is a impedance & phase curve of my latest Carbon 7 SE model. It has an updated lighter & faster mid/bass driver that has more midrange detail than the original Carbon 7 model. The SE version also features the newer ScanSpeak AirCirc / Illuminator tweeters which have an extended higher frequency response out to beyond 30 kHz with more air than the original model 9500 tweeter had.

The ScanSpeak mid/bass driver in my Carbon 7 SE's is an updated model compared to my original Carbon 7's. The new Carbon 7 SE ScanSpeak mid/bass driver is lighter and faster with much more mid range detail than the older one. This driver was basically developed by ScanSpeak and Sonus Faber for use in their $20,000 pair of stand mounted loudspeakers & their $36,000 pair of towers. (Contact me and I will send you the link to the Stereophile review of the Sonus Faber Guarneri Evolution loudspeakers)

Google any loudspeaker and see if they have a Stereophile review. Go to the measurement page & check out the impedance & phase curves. They will look like mountain ranges with peaks & dips. No other speakers will have smooth curves unless they use series crossovers. Click the link on my home web page to view the impedance & phase curves of my speakers with series crossovers vs others. Series crossovers sound much better in loudspeaker designs than old style regular crossovers. Contact me to find out why.

Please get in touch with me to discuss which of my models & wood finishes would be best for your system. I'm from the old school of typing (hunt & peck method), it takes me forever to compose and type e-mail. I can give you more info over the phone much easier. No high pressure sales pitch or anything like that, I just enjoy talking to people about music & all things audio. Besides that, it usually takes me a few days to load up, pack and ship any of my in-stock models (and at least a couple of weeks for the custom finished designs) giving you plenty of time to cancel any orders due to buyers remorse.

Please let me know if you are interested in more info.

BTW- Series crossovers actually have variable crossover points. Conventional crossovers are basically mathematical equations that are separately calculated based on the impedance of the mid/bass driver and tweeter used in the speaker.

When music is playing through a loudspeaker, the drivers voice coils heat up and the impedance and other electrical parameters can change. A heated 8 ohm mid/bass driver coil may become 7 ohm, a 6 ohm tweeter coil may become 8 ohm (could be higher or lower depending on voltage & current), effectively changing the cross over frequencies of each driver. The mid/bass could now roll off sooner (lower) and the tweeter could come in later at a higher frequency... or vise versa. This can result in an overlap or suck out between them.

With series crossovers both of the drivers are in the same circuit and the crossover points fluctuate between the two drivers eliminating the peaks or suck outs of conventional crossovers.
