5” drivers. While these are barely used, certain parts are not factory-original. The black phase plugs are used & show slight signs of wear. The binding posts are from Lowther but installed by myself to correct for a broken bracket. These are 8 Ohm. A pair of custom-made phase plugs & binding post “bits” are included.Lowthers are very sensitive & “fast” drivers. They are immediate & highly detailed. These are ideal for Jazz & small ensemble Classical. Very light paper cones are part of the magic. There might not be much out there that will outdo them in the midrange. HOWEVER, they are quite bass-shy, and standard cabinets will not work well. There is only one factory design. (There is also a well-regarded backloaded horn design called the Alerion, which is now in the public domain.) The Qts is very low, so UNASSISTED open-baffles are non-starters. HOWEVER, a bi- or tri-amplified open-bafffle could be excellent. (Check the Martin J. King website on the work he has done with the larger Lowthers in open baffles; same idea.) In the right configuration, these could serve as outstanding midranges. Please remember that this is the 5” version, not the far more common 8”. The T/S parameters listed on the Lowther site are said to be inaccurate. They should be tested before finalizing any enclosure & crossover designs. I will consider reasonable offers. I will try to add pics ASAP.
