For sale is a pair of vintage Acoustat Model 3 electrostatic speakers.The speakers are in near-mint condition. The wood bases show nearly no wear and the black cloth socks are nearly perfect: No apparent rips and only a few small places where the material is piled. They come from a smoke- and pet-free household. The Mk 121-2 interfaces were refurbished by Roy Esposito, a highly regarded former Acoustat employee. He upgraded all the transformers to Medallion-level components and added the "Air" modification—a bypass switch which allows full treble response that was limited in the original design. The speakers need nothing. They are as good as they can be and will be fine for years to come. I also have a matching Acoustat TNT 200 amplifier and preamplifier for sale that work magic with these speakers. I will make a nice package deal for the speakers and amp+preamp. They belong together. The interfaces can be removed and speaker panels fit into a bicycle box, but I very strongly prefer local pick up. I am willing to drive up to 150 miles from the metro Atlanta for a transaction.
