For Sale: Altec High-E Loudspeaker System, Altec-designed 614 cabinets built utilizing 1" thick Baltic Birch, with Yuishi-designed 480FL hyperbolic wood horns with Great Plains Audio 802-16G series 2 comp drivers. Finish on system is hand-rubbed violin french-Polish (shellac). Bass-Drivers are superb-sounding NOS Altec 414B, known well for their stellar mid-range performance, 16ohm, Alnico motors, H/F comp drivers are Alnico (1.5lb alnico Motors) 802-16G drivers, made by Great Plains Audio. ($1050/pr) Custom designed 2nd-order Linkwitz Riley crossovers use state of the art Audyn Tri-Reference capacitors and premium Mills MRA12 resistors. System is easy to drive 16ohm, with approx 97dB sensitivity. I have used 45 and 2a3 tube amplifiers which drive this system effortlessly. Altec 414B bass drivers were actually real, new-old-stock replacement speakers which were actually purchased by me "new, and unused in boxes".
This very fine loudspeaker system is very heavy, which will need to be picked up here in Western Michigan, (Muskegon area) as I cannot possibly ship them, or package them.
I will sell them as a complete loudspeaker system package for $2200 which includes bass commodes, horns, and custom 1.2khz Linkwitz-Riley 2nd-order crossovers (with matching Baltic Birch boxes).
Or, I can split into bass cabinets/NOS 414B altec drivers for $700 (still must be picked up here in Muskegon, MI area), or you can purchase only the custom built Yuishi 480fl horns, GPA 802-16g comp drivers, and custom Linkwitz-Riley crossovers (with matching Baltic birch boxes)separately for $1600, which I could possibly package safely for ship. (buyer pays all shipping).
Optional pair of Fostex T90a alnico super-tweeters (with stands) are also available for an additional $345. Matching super tweeter 2nd-order crossover (Linkwitz-Riley 2nd-order) with matching Baltic-birch boxes are also available for an additional $50.
