Gershman Acoustics Sonogram floor-standing loudspeakers in good condition (matched serial numbers of 08828). Gershman Acoustics has a cult following in Canada, where they are manufactured. These have a beautiful satin dark cherry finish in excellent condition. The black coated MDF base on each developed a spontaneous split on the edge a few months ago (see photos), which I sealed by injecting black epoxy with a syringe and isn't noticable from your listening position. It has no effect on the sound, and the photos make them look worse than they are. If you like, you can order new bases from Gershman. I am including the original heavy duty spikes as well as my preferred Herbie's Audio Lab screw-in isolation footers that will not harm a wood floor and work just as well on rugs or carpet ($130 value).These are close to full range, extending to 28 Hz in the bass. They possess an 8-inch woofer designed by Gershman, a 2-1/8 inch Morel softdome midrange, and a 1-inch Peerless tweeter. The bass driver is reflex loaded with a slot port positioned at the bottom of the rear baffle. Crossovers at 350 Hz and 2000 Hz. Efficiency is 89 dB with a 6 ohm nominal impedance. Internals and drivers are the same as the latest production. They are beautiful looking and sounding speakers that work well in a medium (15 ft X 14 ft X 8-1/2 ft) to large room. I own several pairs of expensive speakers that I rotate in and out of my system. I've moved into a smaller house with fewer rooms and I just don’t have room for everything anymore. Prior to these I owned the more expensive Avant Garde RX20s and replaced them with Sonograms--more open and lively, with bass that was just about as deep and a soundstage just as 3-dimensional but taller. Used in a smoke-free, child-free environment. Given what these sold for in Canada ($5600), and even demos from dealers being right up there ($3600), my asking price of $1250 plus shipping and 3% Paypal fee is a bargain for speakers of this quality. I strongly recommend shipping by freight with these, though I'm willing to ship UPS. I have the original packing and boxes that are in excellent condition. The shipping weight is 215 pounds total (107.5 pounds per box). The dimensions cited in the box above are for the two boxes strapped together. UPS would require the boxes to ship singly. Individually they are 48 inches X 21 inches X 17 inches and 107.5 pounds. Depending on your location, shipping with insurance will likely run $200 - 275 total (shipping UPS to the middle of Kansas, for example, would be $242.00). If you are fairly close to Lexington, KY, shipping will be less. If you are close enough to me (say within a 120 miles radius), I could deliver them for free. Paypal is preferred, but I will accept postal money orders (you would need two, since the limit is $1000 per money order but you wouldn’t have the Paypal fee). You won't be disappointed with these.
