This pre-amplifier is the upgraded Model 8 with better passive components and better tubes. I am including an extra set of tubes at this price. The sound of this pre-amp is very musical to my ears. I am the original owner and sold my Audio Research tube pre-amp after purchasing this pre amp because its balance overall was better and its dynamics to my ear are much better. The audio research equipment I have owned over the years did not disappoint but this pre-amp is to my liking. Rating it an 8 for age as it is about 6 years old.I am selling only because I have tried the Entact Audio (Emia) passive audio and find that the passive approach is more to my liking than active pre-amps. If not for the Entact Audio product I would not be selling this pre-amp.
