This is the BASE XLR model with Vishay Resistors
Solid metal case and remote. Reminds me of a Mercedes G Wagon from the front I have deep regrets passing this great dual mono preamp along, but... After I sold my Paraaound P5 preamp, I was using my Oppo 105 direct to emerald Physics amps. Thinking their class D was a bit long in the tooth, I investigated the newest class D and was close to buying a Nord after reading a review of it using a HATTOR Passive Pre! I happened upon a used one and bought it. It blew away using the Oppo direct. I started a Agon Forum thread titled Have Passive Preamps Finally Come of Age. Turns out the Hattor is an impedance mismatch for my then Emerald Physics 100.2SE amps. I replaced them with a Audio Alchemy Stereo amp, but it turns out this is an even worse impedance mismatch. Hattor offers an optional buffer stage ($350) which I am told is simple to install. That was my plan until I compared the AA DAC. So, I bought a Audio Alchemy DDP-1 Dac/Pre just to see/hear how the 2 AA components sound together. Oh My, when spinning SACDs and DVD-As, but I began to wonder how the AA Dac compares to the Oppo. No contest, which means the Hattor is now for sale The pictures do not begin to show how well made it is, though Hattor's www is close And it comes in a metal flight case
