Up for sale is a PS Audio P600 power plant. Cosmetically, it's pretty solid, needing a new front insignia bulb, and 2 left rear heat sink fins are bent and need to be straightened out. Functionally, it powers up, the display works, but it outputs quite less than 117v. I spoke with a PS Audio tech, who told me the power supply needs to be "recapped". This unit had the Cullen Circuits (Rick Cullen) mods performed in 2008 at a cost of $600.00. The mods included replacing the 16 stock 3300uf/100v power supply caps with 32 Gold Series audiophile caps and upgrading the stock chassis wiring with solid silver wiring at critical locations in the unit. Mouser Electronics sells Nichicon caps of this value to replace the Gold Series caps that have gone bad. I had 8 components hooked up to the P600, and the display rarely showed a draw of over 400 watts, with the P600 capable of 600 watts and 700 watts peak. My positive feedback can be checked under Eddie on Audiogon, and schlick32 on Ebay. This P600 would be a great value for anyone capable of doing their own repair.
