a Sony Playstation 1 Model SCPH-1001 with mods , used, in excellent condition , include: c-7 connector, a silver fuse, power cord, and wired controller.
The modifications include:
1. Modifying the output stage using audio grade Elna Silmic II capacitors, PRP or Dale precision metal film resistors, and Mundorf Teflon-insulated Silver/Gold hook-up wire.2. Upgrading the capacitors in the power supply with long-life Panasonic electrolytic capacitors and Evox Rifa AC filter film capacitors. These mods work well together to improve the sound. Compared to a stock Model SCPH-1001, the modded player provides: - Deeper, extended and more detailed bass. - Extended high frequencies. The sound is no longer rolled off at both frequency extremes as some have claimed with the stock Playstation. There is greater air in the presentation and the recording venue acoustics are better conveyed with improved detail and extension of high frequencies. - Higher level of detail and transparency while retaining the midrange warmth of the stock unit (this is really evident once the output stage componennts have had some time to burn-in). Most people who have purchased these modified units from me tell me that it has an "analog" sound quality. - Larger, more expansive soundstage in all three dimensions (width, height and depth). - Improved imaging. I believe that with greater detail, the space around the performers is better defined.
