"The 588-24 was stunning! The detail, especially in the top end, was utterly breathtaking. I have never heard digital playback that comes close to this. The nearest contender in the dynamics department would have to be the Gryphon Mikado, in an all-Gryphon system, and that player costs almost $12,000! I really, really hate saying "I heard details I never heard before," but there it was. On Diana Krall's Look of Love, I heard so many new things that I thought I had fallen asleep and was dreaming. I could clearly hear when members of the orchestra bumped their instruments or coughed—things I had never noticed, despite playing this recording hundreds of times." - Ed Morawski, Positive Feedback Magazine.

Audiogon's Audio Bluebook lists the average selling price on their site as $2,064.02, and the average private party sale as $2,208.50.

Another on-line bluebook service says this:

"Meridian 588 24-Bit CD Player - Price history for Meridian 588 24-Bit CD Player digital player on the secondhand market. Average price $1610"

Despite its small size, the 588-24 sports quite a few features, including lots of connections, multiple buffer stages to reduce jitter, 24/192 DACs and upsampling, an RS-232 port for control and downloading new firmware, and both RCA and XLR inputs. Because of its computer drive, the 588-24 can read CDs, CD-Rs, even MP3s.

I have the original manual for the player and the very cool Meridian remote...which controls all of their products from what I understand along with its remote and box. I do not have the original shipping carton but I am expert at packaging and you will be pleasantly reassured with the quality of my packing. (no jokes please).

I would describe the condition to be very good to excellent. Performance-wise it has performed perfectly without issue. Cosmetically it appears to have a smudge of some sort on the door. I didn't notice at all while using it until I removed it from my system to take photos, and in the right lighting I could see the smudge. It most likely will come right off but I am not going to mess with it since I never even noticed it initially. I'll let the new owner clean it if they so choose.
