For sale is an Antique Sound Labs EL34 amplifier for sale. It's there model AQ1003DT. It's in great cosmetic condition (conservatively rated a 7 out of 10 on the audiogon scale for missing the remote and not having the box) and everything functions as it should (minus the missing remote).

It's a Push-Pull class A amplifier that puts out 30 watts per channel. This amp is built like a tank with a solid chassis and huge transformers. Although it's only rated at 30 watts, it provides as much or more current than amps at 45-50 watts output which helps it to drive a wide variety of speakers. It's one of the virtues of a class A design.

The amp uses a quad of EL34 tubes in the output section and four 12AU7 tubes for the signal and driver section. Both are classic tubes that are amongst the most popular in audio and thus easy to find so NOS units are readily available, plus a wide variety of manufacturers still produce them so new units can be purchased.

One item of note is that it's an integrated amp with a nice volume control, so just plug in a source and you're set (no need for a pre-amp unless of course you have a turntable and then you'll need a phono section since it doesn't have one). It also has multiple output taps for 4 and 8 ohm speakers.

Another one of the things I really like about the amp is that it has a integrated bias meter that allows you to easily set the bias for each tube. Just select the tube desired with the selector switch and dial in the bias. With independent bias you don't have to worry about buying matched sets of tubes, which is nice if you're buying NOS tubes.

The amp came with a remote but I bought it used and the original owner had misplaced it. It might be possible to find another one, I didn't worry about it.

I've had the amp for about 2.5 years and haven't used it much. I tried it with several speakers though. Some Vandersteen 2Cs, some Tyler Acoustics Reference Monitors and some Hales Concept 2 speakers. It was able to easily drive all of those with great dynamics. But it's sat for the last 8 months unused, so it's time to let it go.

I could continue, but I think the following detailed review does a better job than I would: http://www.goodsound.com/equipment/asl_aq1003_dt.htm

I put some new Chinese tubes in it when I got it and they have about 10 hours on them (like I mentioned, I very rarely used it). The signal tubes are original, but those usually last several thousand hours so you're set. Of course those could be swapped out super easily if so desired. Also, I have the metal cage that you can put on the top (front) to cover the tubes. It's a chromed metal affair and looks nice, and would make sense for use to keep the hot tubes from prying fingers. But since I don't have children about, I prefer the au natural look with the tubes exposed. I also replaced the cheap rubber feet with some high quality solid spun aluminum feet. They have a rubber grommet insert on the bottom that helps with vibration dampening.

Unfortunately, I have some physical limitations that preclude easy shipping (confined to a wheelchair and this is a heavy amplifier). So given that, the unit is available for local pickup only. I'm located in 85087 (New River, AZ/). For those not familiar with the area, it's about 30 minutes North of Phoenix right off of I-17.

I only included the one image since, taking multiple angles is difficult given it's weight, but it's in nice shape as described above.
